In July we spent a month in Orihuela Costa, which is 45 mins south of Alicante on the Costa Blanca ” White Coast” in South East of Spain.
In the area of Playa Flamenca, we tried some new experiences and chatted to local businesses as they get back for the first full season after the Covid pandemic. Below is the story of one such business “Bodega 75”. It is certainly worth a visit.

“We are new wine and spirit store on Playa Flamenca, Orihuela Costa, ran by wife and husband team.
What’s our story?
Well, simple really. We have moved to Spain from London and have noticed that there are not many lovely wine stores in our area, especially the ones promoting local produce. We’re passionate about wine and know many of our customers feel the same way. Hence that’s how the idea of opening a local wine shop came to our mind. Local wines are great quality – our aim is to introduce them to as many people as possible. We have visited quite a few winemakers and suppliers prior opening the store. So, we are able to offer the Spain’s best hidden wine selection, with an emphasis on of course! Local wines. We also have crafted – artisan beer from local microbrews, and a small but interesting selection of spirits in different style and price range.
In our store you will be able to find a lot of organic produce too. Quite a few wineries are committed to produce only organic, vegan and natural wine. We also have local extra virgin olive oils for sale as well as other local delicacies, such as jams, olives and more.
We’re also committed to having the most affordable prices on all our products. Our special relationships with producers, importers and wholesalers bring us considerable savings, which we pass on to our customers.
It’s our Team who make the shopping experience special as well. We love traveling to regions to meet our winemakers and learn about their wines first-hand. We have tasted 99% of our local wines which we have on sale in our store. Thus, we know the wines by taste not by word. We also find it important to be able to translate winemakers’ story to our dearest customers. Anyone who walks into our store can be assured that they will be looked after. Do you need an expert recommendation for a wine? Or do you know what you want? Whether you are new to the world of wine or a great wine enthusiast, we want all our customers to be confident and comfortable exploring our selections and choosing the wines they prefer. Oh, and an exciting thing is that we also do great wine tastings at our store! We organise several tastings with local winemakers on off season months. So, if you are interested in learning more or just wish to have a great time tasting local wines then email us to be put on a list and we will let you know as soon as soon we have dates and further information. We also have our little terrace where our guests can sample selected wines by the glass. The list starts with local wineries and finishes with wines, such as Blue Pasion, which you might never taste again. To accompany your wine, we have a little nibbles selection too.

Properties Overseas is run by a husband and wife Team Paul and Sue and throughly recommend trying “Bodega 75”. Our guests for the week at our house made 2 visits during their stay and would have made more if they had had the time.
