Look for a breath of property types & locations. From personal experience we changed initially from a 2 bed 1 bath apartment to buy a 3 bed 2 bath house. This served the needs of our family as the children grew up and wanted their own space.
A couple of questions to ask yourself What type of property are you interested in?
Do the latest design and contemporary style suit you or traditional?
Who and how many people will use the property?
Do you want to live in a established community or somewhere more remote.
If you are a growing family think of the potential future needs?
Any access issues to consider?
Do you want a turn key property or like a new project ?
Once your initial research has led you to consider an area to focus on. Seek out professionally accredited companies who are well established with a strong partner network. Years of local knowledge of their location, professional contacts developed and trusted over time often spread beyond the real estate sector. These qualities can be invaluable to potential buyers, way beyond when the ink has dried on your contract.
Use professionally accredited company’s who are members of trade organisations such as AIPP (Association of International Property Professionals). With members here in the UK and internationally, this gives the client confidence in their professionlism. In particular if both the UK based company, partners with international members in the country they specialize in.
Look out for the logo on their literature and advertisements confirming tbeir membership to these trade organisations.
If you were purchasing property here in the UK you probably may use NAEA members – National Association of Estate Agents who you are familiar with. AIPP is a similar trade organisation for international property. Setting standards and code of practice for their members to adhere to.
